The Cleaners and Boston, Ho!

Hey gang,Long time no weekly update. In the weeks in between, I'm sure you've all been checking out the weekly episodes of The Resistance at lg15.com. If not, you can get caught up extra easy on the front page of www.thefialkov.com.

As part of the show, we're heading to Boston at the end of next week. Anybody who's in town who wants to meet up, or take part in our live event should drop me a line, and I'll get you some more info.

And finally, in stores this week, the comics debut of screenwriting wunderkin, Fialkov wedding best man, and all around good guy Mark Wheaton (ably supported by yours truly) in The Cleaners from Dark Horse Comics. It'll be at your local retailer this wedneday, or, you can order (and preview) the first issue at this link: http://www.darkhorse.com/Comics/15-214/The-Cleaners-1

So, that's it. Hope all of y'all are doing well, and, looking forward to catching up with any of y'all in my old stomping grounds.

See you next week,

j.

Oh yeah... I forgot...

Sorry, it's been a long week.  While walking the floor I discovered/remembered that I have THREE books making their premieres in one way or another at the show.  Each is just a smaller story in a bigger book. First, The Cleaners, Mark Wheaton's breathtaking new horror series, that I was privlidged enough to be invited to the birthing of, gets a five page preview in Dark Horse's preview book this year.

Second, there's a brand new Punks strip in the brand new Tripwire Annual (available at the Image booth).

Finally, there's the Josh Medors fund rasier book featuring the second collaboration of mine with Friday the 13th artist/godsend Andy B, available at the Boom Studios booth.  They're also accepting donations at the table.

Alright, for this week, I say adieu.

Adieu!

Sandy Eggo

Tomorrow I head down to the city by the sea, for the convention by the... uh... sea.  I'm 'taking it easy' compared to recent cons, and will only be appearing at the Top Cow booth and at their panel.  The rest of the time will hopefully be a combination of meetings and hanging out with the wife.  Here's my tentative signing schedule. Thursday 10am - Top Cow

Friday 4:30pm - Top Cow

Saturday 12:00pm - Top Cow

Saturday 3:00pm - Top Cow Panel

Sunday 2:30pm - Top Cow

All of those signings I'll be with Jeremy Haun, schemeing and planning our sinister futures together.  Bring your copies of Alibi for us to deface.

See you at the show!

Heading Out

Bright and (way too) early tomorrow morning, Christina and I are heading out for New York City, the New York Comic Con, and a weekend filled with seeing old friends, running from meeting to meeting, and generally wearing myself out. Thanks to the joys of Twitter, it's felt a little less isolated getting ready, as everybody heading to the show seemed to simultaneously hit 'Oh Fuck' Mode at the same time, and everybody's there cheering everyone else on. Or making mean jokes.

Mostly mean jokes.

So, till next week, very little posting, very little twittering. Please stop by Top Cow, Harris, or the Comics Experience panel to say Hi.

See you on the other side.

WONDERCON '08: THE DARK HORSE PANEL - NEWSARAMA

Gore announced that she’s also shepherding a new horror series entitled The Cleaners which focuses on trauma scene cleaners who are called in to clean up cases that the police don’t want people to know about…things that could not, or should not have happened and border on the supernatural. Gore said she was pitched the series by Mark Wheaton and Joshua Fialkov, and fell in love with it immediately. The artist for The Cleaners is Rahsan Ekdal, a newcomer who first showed Gore his portfolio at last year’s WonderCon. “He draws like if Geof Darrow and Kevin O’Neil had a little love baby.”

THE LIST: Outlaw Kid, Punks, Supermarket, and TheFialkov.com

12-10-07

Hey gang,
As the year draws to a close, I’ve got a couple of books squeaking in before the roles are closed on the old year, and a few quick updates.

First, this week sees my very first (of what will hopefully be many) Marvel work in the form of an Outlaw Kid story in Marvel Comics Presents #4. The art is by the amazing Chris Moeller and looks LIKE THIS:

Click the image for an interview with me about the book.

Secondly, the Punks Christacular we’re hoping/praying/oodling should be in stores either next week, or the week following. I’ll send out another update when we know for sure. It’s been super-sized up to 56 pages (at no additional cost to you!) and contains a ton of bonus material, including an interview with the ever-charming kitsch king Charles Phoenix, a few words from Captain Marvel/The Circle/Ms. Marvel writer Brian Reed, a review of a Bob Mould ‘event’ by blogging sensation Ian Brill, plus not one but TWO bonus comics, including the all but impossible to get Free Comic Book Day short, and one that has cool stuff like THIS in it...

As always, more info on that at PunksTheComic.com

Also of note, the old blog’s gone away, and a new blog has replaced it. The new site is up at http://www.thefialkov.com.

I’ve been updating it much more regularly, and hopefully will continue to.

This weekend Tony Fleecs and I will be appearing at Supermarket L.A. at Meltdown Comics in Hollywood. Hopefully, I will have the aforementioned Punks Christacular in hand, as well as some surprises. More info on that here: http://www.myspace.com/supermarketla.
And finally, I’d be remiss if I didn’t plug my beautiful wife’s newly redesigned (by me) website over at http://www.anndvorak.com. She’s got an amazing collection of photos, and I’ve even managed to convince her to blog a bit about her collection, Ann’s movies, and things of that sort. There’ll probably eventually be pictures of the wedding over there, too, so, go check it out.

Happy Holidays and all that,

j.
